About ACPIRT

Background

ACPIRT was established in 1992 by a group of physiotherapists led by Christine Jones (FCSP) and Ann Lett (RGN). The group was approved by the CSP in 1993.

Aims

The aim is to promote the skills of Reflex Therapy within physiotherapy and other professions, reflecting the clinical responsibilities laid down by the Health Professions Council.

What we offer

Regional network Regional co-ordinators are appointed at the Annual General Meeting to serve the local interests of members. They are invited to attend executive meetings as ex-officio members.

Peer support/mentorship Peer support is available through the regional network and support is also provided via committee members.

Conferences and study days There are many conference and study day opportunities for this speciality, in addition to training opportunities arranged by the regions. There have also been joint training opportunities between ACPIRT and other reflex therapy providers.

Promoting research awareness Research and evidence-based practice is promoted at study days and through the publication of the ACPIRT research officer's reports in the newsletter. The group has had involvement in various audit programmes. Case studies have been published in the newsletter.

Published evidence-based material ACPIRT has published Standards and Guidance for Good Practice in Reflex Therapy, available from the CSP. Data collection forms to assist audit are provided in the new members' pack.
